Hello world!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the SMART blog.

I’m Leslie, a high school student by day and dreamer by night. I’m also a math and science enthusiast, (they happen to be my favorite subjects at school) and competitive fencer. I may be small, but I’m ready to make an impact – one step at a time, of course!

2014 was a wonderful year! I hope everyone is spending a safe and fun New Year’s Day today!

I started this SMART blog on New Year’s Day because I think it’s the best way to mark beginning of 2015. In fact, creating my own blog is one of my New Year’s resolutions. I guess I can check that one off my list!

I was inspired to start this blog because I enjoy learning about the wonders that surround me everyday. When I sit here blogging, there are so many minute processes in my body that I may take for granted. As I walk along a sidewalk and admire the nature around me, there are so many little things to be curious about. Why am I able to think of a word and have my fingers immediately type up letters? Why are birds able to fly? How do touch screens work? These seemingly simple questions are the little things that really matter because they make up our universe. Everything can be explained by math or science; that’s why I love them so much! It’s almost like everything around us acts as a living, changing science experiment.

On this SMART blog, I hope to share my thoughts and ideas about science and math by explaining interesting phenomena that occur in our daily lives. There is so much I am curious about  and ready to share. Occasionally, I’ll write about some important events in my life and share some other thoughts.

Goodbye to 2014 and hello to 2015! Cheers to an even better year ahead! Enjoy!

-Leslie
